Helping Build a Safe House in Logan County

Guthrie, OK – February 20, 2009 - Oklahoma is ranked in the top 4 states in the nation for abuse against children and in the top 10 for abused women according to national statistics. At the Bethel Foundation, they understand what it’s like to need a safe way out and a helping hand. That is the reason why they are developing the Camillus Healing Home in Logan County. It will serve as a 24 bed crisis and transitional home for abused women with children. While at the Camillus Healing Home, those in need of refuge will receive mentoring to give them hope to realize there is a way to get out of their destructive situation before it costs them their life and the welfare of their children. This Thursday, February 26, you can help the Bethel Foundation just by dining at Hastings Steakhouse in Guthrie, OK.

Although the Camillus Home is located in Logan County, the Bethel Foundation also takes pride in helping single mothers throughout central Oklahoma get on their feet. They help needy families obtain temporary housing with an option to affordably purchase the house after completing the life skills mentoring and counseling program. They provide necessities, food, and clothes through a “Cupboard and Closet” program. They help mothers look for employment and provide career advancement training including GED assistance and help with applications, financial aid, and scholarships for college or vocational schools. They are offering a free educational and motivational workshop for single mothers at the end of April 2009. The Bethel Foundation also offers other programs for children such as Kids Rock Camp and Rab Rab’s Birthday.

The Bethel Foundation can always use a helping hand from others in their community which is why they were excited to hear about Hastings Steakhouse Charity Night program. If you haven’t made it to a previous Charity Night at Hastings Steakhouse located at 312 W. Oklahoma, you haven’t missed your chance to enjoy a great dinner while supporting a great cause every Thursday evening from 5pm until 9pm.
